Eco

St. Peters school Horbury has just been told that they have achieved the green flag as part of eco-schools, which makes them the third school in Wakefield to have been awarded the green flag. We are really excited to celebrate our achievement.

Green flag means that we look after our school grounds and we have our allotments to grow food.

These are the things we did:

·       Turn off lights

·       Turn down the temperature in the classroom, if needed.

·       Turn off computers or laptops when not needed.

·       Grow food in the allotments.

·       Recycle paper.

·        Scrap paper drawers.

·       Energy monitors, who make sure everything is turned off, when not needed.

·       Turning taps off.

·       Re-using equipment at the end off the school term

This is all thanks to our eco- task group and the best eco- teacher ever Mrs Ward!

If you need any advice please come and ask us.
